You've Got Candy let us try their ART KIT out to see if it really did engage children of all ages. And since I have four, ranged between 11 and four, it seemed legit. I am pleased to say that all the kids used parts of the kit. I posted some of the pictures on instagram, but saved most of the fun for here. In order to get the juices flowing, I got out our art books and some additional inspiration from the library. We put everything out the table and the kids snatched up the things they wanted to try. The oil pastels were a favorite.
Lou, Jay and Mr. E had fun using the Ed Emberly books to draw stuff on the newsprint paper I provided. I do love newsprint for the kids. You get lots of paper which is important because the kids go through so much! They looked like they were having so much, I tried out a few drawings!
The kids flipped through all the books and shared the supplies really well. They took turns with the colors and each completed several drawings, each one is proudly displayed on the refrigerator.
Bug wanted to build the wood model included in the kit. He was excited that there was something other than coloring. He isn't a big coloring fan, never has been, so this was perfect for him.
At first, Bug didn't think that using watercolors would be that awesome, but he was thrilled with how it looked in the end. He like the "vintage" feel as well as the control of mixing his own blended colors.
They really loved making the masks. As you can see, Jay chose to bedazzle his mask with some of the embellishments included in the kit and Lou used the watercolors to make her mask pop. Both masked turned out adorable and both were really creative!
Of course, we can't forget the candy. The ART KIT includes just enough candy for the kids to get their fill, but not enough to drive this momma crazy! Overall, we have spent about seven hours working through the supplies provided in the kit and we haven't even busted out the crayons, origami, Eric Carle stickers or the mini sketch pad. It has been such fun watching the kids play and invent with all the supplies. You've Got Candy's Art Box has been a great experience. You can purchase it here. Also checkout their vintage candy box, doesn't it look fun!
You've Got Candy was also gracious enough to give me a coupon code for 10% of your entire purchase! Just use epicfamily2016 in the coupon code box and save a little money. That is three dollars off the ART BOX. The price includes shipping, so it is a really good deal! All boxes will be shipped in time for you to receive them for Easter. So get yours now! While they last.
Just remember, these guys are students, so don't expect world class photography or the most amazing website! While those elements are still being worked on, the ART BOX doesn't need any help. It's great just the way it is, all it needs is a creative and willing child.
