During the day is a series of posts that are centered around the things that we do... during the day. Sometimes as a parent it's hard to remember or come up with things to do with our children. To find past during the day posts, go here. Feel free to comment below on the things your and your family are doing today, because we could all use a good idea!

Like much of the Midwest, we have had SO MUCH rain. Whenever we have a break in the rain, I send the kids outside to play, run and to reduce their energy levels. Sound familiar? This day I sent them outside with a purpose. "Go make the Queen a potion! No, several potions! I want one for granting wishes, one for removing warts and one for falling in love! or Any other kinds you can think of!"
Luckily for my magicians, my grass hasn't been trimmed recently, so the grass was full of potion ingredients. My spearmint, basil and rosemary has been protected from most of the downpours, so those were good choices for concoctions. And as you can see, so were my snap dragons and lavender plants became fodder for the potions. Nothing was off limits. The water was retrieved from pool of endless desires, aka the puddle around our Maple tree.
This activity appealed to all my children. It lasted around an hour, but was aided by the consuming of fairy food. (cherries and blueberries) The only thing that I think was missing was a mortar and pestle and a child height table. I think those would have aided in the play and make of the potions.
In the end, I was presented with a potion that grants wishes, one that can help me change into any kind of cat, one that changes me into a mermaid and one that heals the heart. Pretty good potions...
Jeep was wearing the cape he made at the library for super hero week. Because he was a knight, not a magician. Just in case you were wondering. He's not holding a potion, but a special drink for knights. 'Cause they are strong and swift.
The pool of endless desires was claimed by Norway. Which seems fitting, seeing as Norway is the place of Trolls and magical legends.
